Review jaringan EV-DO Smart

Kebetulan kemarin ada pesanan laptop+printer+modem, jadi saya punya kesempatan untuk mencoba jaringan EVDO Rev.A milik smart. Uji coba ini saya lakukan jalur utama kota Bangkalan dengan menggunakan modem ZTE AC2726i plus gratis akses internet yang 1 bulan dengan memakai setting default "Hybrid". Meskipun sinyal EVDO penuh tetapi kadang-kadang berubah menjadi CDMA 2000 1x. Tetapi secara umum penerimaan sinyal modem ini cukup bagus, bahkan saya coba bawa sedikit ke pelosok desa sinyal EVDO masih cukup kuat (3-5 bar). Sayangnya kecepatan jaringan EVDO smart ini terlalu fluktuatif dan kadang penurunannya sangat drastis. Berikut saya sajikan screenshot nya :

PCMAV 4.2 Plus (Update)

Sesuai janji saya pada artikel sebelumnya tentang PCMAV 4.2 yang mengalami kendala saat digabungkan dengan engine CLAMAV (Baca Lagi), ternyata permasalahan ada di database daily.cvd. Setelah diupdate dengan file daily.cvd (Download disini) yang baru release tanggal 28 November 2010 ternyata PCMAV sukses dikawinkan dengan engine clamav. Untuk main.cvdnya (Download disini)direlease tanggal 14 November 2010.

Clamav Library yang saya gunakan adalah versi 0.96.4 Download disini dan untuk penjelasan bagaimana menggabungkan PCMAV dengan CLAMAV silahkan Baca disini

Untuk update database PCMAV saya sarankan langsung melalui aplikasinya saja.

Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 Free Trial 1 Year License

Nah ini ada kabar bagus buat rekan-rekan yang mencari aplikasi Internet Security komersial tapi ingin mendapatkan lisensinya secara cuma-cuma. Ya, sesuai artikel ini, Trend Micro,atau yang dulunya kita kenal dengan PC-Cillin memberikan lisensi trial 1 tahun penuh (umumnya 30/60/90 hari)untuk produk Internet security-nya.
Sekarang ikuti langkah-langkah berikut ini untuk mendapatkannya :
1. Download Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 installer (china simplified) berikut ini :
TTI_32 bit atau
TTI_64bit

Lho kok installernya versi china? Jangan khawatir, nanti akan kita ubah bahasanya ke bahasa Inggris. :)
2. Setelah diunduh installernya, double klik untuk menginstalnya lalu pilih "“Activate trial version”

 
    Lalu OK.
3. Setelah itu, klik kanan ikon Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 yang terdapat di systray (pojok kanan bawah pada desktop), lalu pilih exit.
4. Langkah selanjutnya berguna untuk mengubah tampilan Trend Micro ke bahasa Inggris. Buka windows explorer lalu cari file UIProfile.cfg  yang terletak di C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\UniClient\UiFrmwrk\, dan edit dengan Notepad.
5. Cari “ZH-CN” yang terdapat di UIProfile.cfg dan ganti dengan "EN-US" lalu simpan.
6. Setelah itu restart komputer lalu perhatikan tampilan Trend Micro Titanium sekarang sudah berubah ke bahasa Inggris.
7. Dan jangan lupa buat rekan-rekan untuk menggandengkan dengan antivirus lokal (seperti smadav atau pcmav).

PCMAV 4.2 Plus Update Build 2

Walaupun agak telat menulis artikel tentang antivirus gratis produk Indonesia ini, tapi di dalam file kompresi sudah saya sertakan update buil 2 dengan total tambahan deteksi virus baru kurang lebih 101 varian.

Oke, apa saja yang baru di PCMAV 4.2 ini :

a. UPDATED! Ditambahkan database pengenal dan pembersih 103 virus lokal/
asing/varian baru yang dilaporkan menyebar di Indonesia. Total 3597
virus beserta variannya.

b. ADDED! Removal engine khusus untuk membersihkan secara tuntas virus
Shemale, Serviks.vbs beserta variannya yang menyebar luas di Indonesia.

c. FIXED! Perbaikan RTP yang menimbulkan delay ketika membuat folder
baru di Windows Explorer.

d. IMPROVED! Perbaikan dialog penambahan/add virus pada karantina sehingga
dapat berfungsi baik di Windows 7.

e. IMPROVED! Perbaikan "Restore to" pada Quarantine sehingga dapat merestore
lebih dari satu file.

f. FIXED! Perbaikan error RTP saat disable untuk kedua kalinya.

g. FIXED! Perbaikan tampilan yang terkadang melebar pada saat PCMAV
beroperasi.

h. IMPROVED! Perbaikan startup PCMAV sehingga sesuai dengan konfigurasi
pengguna.

Avast Internet Security

Bagi rekan-rekan yang selama ini telah memakai antivirus avast Free Edition, mungkin sudah tidak perlu meragukan lagi kemampuan deteksinya terhadap virus,malware maupun rootkit.
Nah, mungkin tidak ada salahnya untuk mencoba fitur2 yang lebih lengkap dari Avast Internet Security. Sesuai namanya tentu saja di dalam AIS ini telah ditambahkan firewall untuk proteksi bagi kita saat online.

Smadav 8.3

Akhirnya smadav mengeluarkan versi terbarunya, smadav 8.3. Meskipun menurut saya terlalu lama update-nya, karena banyak komputer teman-teman saya yang terinfeksi virus yang menyembunyikan folder aslinya menjadi file link/shortcut dimana smadav 8.2 belum mampu mendeteksinya.

Virus ini oleh avast dikenali sebagai virus Link Runner. Tapi tidak apa-apa daripada tidak ada update sama sekali :).
Apa yang baru di smadav 8.3 ?
Ada penambahan database 40 virus baru, pembersihan semua varian virus shortcut, dan banyak fitur baru lainnya.

NB : Tetap disarankan gandengkan smadav ini dengan antivirus lainnya. Saya sangat merekomendasikan dengan Avast. Untuk pengguna antivirus Avira, harus hati-hati. Karena setelah saya coba gandengkan Avira + smadav komputer jadi Hang. Sedangkan dengan avast komputer berjalan lancar.

Tes Broadband Internet

Dalam blog terdahulu, saya pernah menulis artikel tentang perbandingan kecepatan internet beberapa operator. Kali ini saya coba menguji kecepatan jaringan 3G XL dengan kekuatan sinyal 4 bar. Paket yang saya pilih kali ini adalah paket Broadband Internet - Fast 1 hari dengan FUP 50Mb. Setelah mendapatkan sms notifikasi bahwa layanan telah aktif langsung saya ukur kecepatannya melalui speedtest.net. Inilah hasilnya :

Setelah FUP 50 Mb dicapai, saya ukur lagi dan ini hasilnya :

Cukup jauh penurunannya, tapi kalau cuma untuk browsing lumayan juga.  Ada beberapa catatan yang menjadi ganjalan sejak saya menggunakan Perdana XL Internet Unlimited ini, yaitu :
1. Perhitungan masa berlaku paket internet (dalam hal ini paket internet unlimitednya).  Karena masa berlaku paket harian efektif masa berlakunya pada saat kita mengaktifkan paket tersebut.  Misalnya ketika saya memilih paket unlimited harian pada hari Sabtu tanggal 10 Juli 2010, maka expired paket tersebut pada hari Sabtu tanggal 10 Juli 2010 jam 24.00 Wib.  Jadi walaupun kita mengaktifkan paket tersebut jam 22.00 Wib, otomatis masa berlaku sama saja dengan 2 jam.
2.  Fitur otomatis aktifasi sampai dengan H+3 ternyata membuat saya kesulitan untuk mendaftar paket unlimited harian tersebut sebelum melewati H+3.

Setelah lama ditunggu-tunggu akhirnya dirilis juga update smadav 8.2. Dismadav 8.2 ini telah ditambahkan database 80 virus baru, perbaikan false alarm, penambahan teknik heuristik untuk varian virus penginfeksi exe, dan beberapa perbaikan bug lainnya.

Melihat Akftivitas Login di GMAIL

Salah satu penyedia layanan e-mail gratis yang cukup terkenal yaitu Google Mail (GMail). Saya sendiri cukup lama menggunakan layanan e-mail gratis dari google ini. Beberapa hari yang lalu,tanpa saya sadari account saya terkena aksi scammer. Tanpa sepengetahuan saya,ada kiriman e-mail ke salah satu rekan kerja saya dengan memakai account saya.
Saya baru menyadari setelah dapat balasan e-mail dari rekan kerja tersebut sampai 3x dengan isi yang sama. Dan atas saran beliau saya disarankan untuk segera mengganti password account saya.
Untuk melihat aktifitas login ke account kita, rekan-rekan bisa melakukan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut :
1. Login ke account Anda di Gmail.
2. Scroll kebawah lalu cari bagian "Last activity...." seperti gambar berikut :

3.  Klik "Details" lalu sebuah jendela pop-up terbuka dan menampilkan :
     - jenis akses seperti browser, POP3 dll
     - Alamat IP dan Tanggal/waktu Login

  Dari log aktifitas Login tersebut, jika ada yang mencurigakan segera ganti password account gmail Anda.
     - jenis akses seperti browser, POP3 dll
     - Alamat IP dan Tanggal/waktu Login

Windows + ↑ (Up Arrow) – Maximize window

Windows + ← (Left Arrow) – Snap window to left side covering half of desktop space. Continue pressing the keyboard shortcut will rotate the window between snap to left, snap to right and restore to normal position.

Windows + → (Right Arrow) – Snap window to right side covering half of desktop space. Continue pressing the keyboard shortcut will rotate the window between snap to left, snap to right and restore to normal position.

Windows + ↓ (Down Arrow) – Minimize the window. Restore to normal size and position if the window is currently maximized.

Windows + Home – Clear all but the active window.

Windows + Space – All windows become transparent so you can see through to the desktop.

Windows + Shift + ← (Left Arrow) – Move the active window to the adjacent monitor on the left for dual or multiple monitors setup.

Windows + Shift + → (Right Arrow) – Move the active window to the adjacent monitor on the right for dual or multiple monitors setup.

Windows + T – Show preview thumbnail of running applications in Windows Taskbar one by one without mouse over.

Windows + P – Adjust presentation options of the display on computer or projector.
